Subject Description
This subject explores the guidelines and principles of User Interface Design (UI), specifically their application to mobile technologies. The principles of User Interface Design will also frame engagement with the principles of Interaction Design and User-centred Design. Students will explore design principles related to screen layout, information architecture, navigation, and usability. Students will have the opportunity to further refine their design thinking, design process, and production abilities. Students will be encouraged to engage with the concept of the Designer as entrepreneur where the designer can be author and content creator as well as conceiver of ideas for market. This subject will focus primarily on the design principles specific to the creation of Applications for mobile devices.


Subject Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1. understand of the guidelines and principles of User Interface Design
2. apply self-directed skills and strategies for successful User Interface Design practice, including research, production and project management
3. demonstrate knowledge of the industry and industry best practice
4. create innovative design concepts and execute solutions in artefact form
