Subject Description
This course is an introduction to the creative and technical skills required for lighting and sound for theatre, concerts, exhibition and events. The subject will provide students with a range of skills and knowledge enabling the student to assist on theatre productions, concerts or in installation in the areas of rigging: lights, speakers, microphones; operation: lighting and sound desks; and the setting up of communications for the many areas of the production team.


Subject Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate organisational, creative and technical skills in the fundamentals of lighting and sound
2. Demonstrate practical skills in the areas of problem solving, rigging, operating, team work and oral and written communication
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of creatives, technicians, production staff and management
4. Work effectively, safely and responsibly with all members of the production team including but not restricted to actors, creatives, technical staff and management
5. Demonstrate responsibility for project outcomes
